Governor’s Ranch Elementary - Boosterthon

Under PTA president Bill Ledebuhr's leadership, Governor’s Ranch Elementary transformed its traditional, labor-intensive fun run fundraiser by adopting Booster's online MyBooster platform, which significantly increased fundraising efficiency and revenue—enabling the school to equip every classroom with new interactive display boards and purchase ukuleles for music, while also benefiting from easy corporate matching donations and reducing the financial burden on parents.

The PTA at Governor’s Ranch Elementary has a long history of fundraising, having organized fun runs since the school opened in the early 1980s. When Bill Ledebuhr became PTA president, he recognized that while the event was popular among students, it was labor intensive and did not yield significant financial returns. Seeking a more efficient solution, Bill explored various companies and found Booster to be the standout choice, primarily due to its online platform.

Bill highlighted the impact of the MyBooster platform, stating, “The MyBooster platform has completely changed our ability and the ceiling for what we could provide to the school because it allows us now to generate a lot more money…because of how great the platform is at organizing information.”

The PTA initially aimed to provide five or six classrooms with new interactive display boards. Thanks to the success of their Booster fundraiser, they were able to equip every classroom in the school with new displays, a goal they thought would take two to three years to achieve. Additionally, they had enough funds to purchase brand new ukuleles for the music classroom.

Another key feature that contributed to their fundraising success was MyBooster’s corporate matching option. Bill noted, “We didn’t see, when we were shopping around, any other platforms that offered the idea of a corporate match, much less how simple it is. You click on it and then it gives you specific instructions for how to do the corporate match, which 100% goes to the school.”

With the increased funds from the annual fun run, the PTA no longer needs to ask parents for donations multiple times throughout the year. This aligns with Bill’s mission as PTA president to reduce the financial burden on parents.

Bill’s leadership at Governor’s Ranch Elementary has left a legacy of simplifying fundraising efforts while increasing the resources available to the school. The transformation of the PTA’s fundraising demonstrates the power of innovation and the positive change that can occur when individuals take initiative in their communities. With continued dedication, the students at Governor’s Ranch Elementary can look forward to an enriched learning environment for years to come.
